The Stencil spiral stair is part of a superb range of Italian designed made-to-measure stairs by the leading manufacturer New Living.

You either love or hate the Stencil spiral stair! We love it, its all steel wafer thin construction gives it an amazing minimalist look.

As it is all steel, it can be completely painted in one or even two colours allowing for a bold statement to made. You can choose just about any colour you like, bright red, green or more muted colours to blend in with the decor for the more conservative among us.

• The stencil spiral range is available in diameters up to 1600mm. so it is suitable as secondary stair or loft stair rather than a main house stair.
• They can be supplied in any height up to 4300mm.
• Landing or gallery balustrading matching the stair is available in virtually any shape.
• 2 systems of balustrading, vertical balusters or wrap around bar type.
• Handrails are painted steel or stainless steel
• Straight or curved treads.
• Circular opening or triangular landing treads.

Though these stairs are obviously suited to a modern minimalist interior, they actually work just as well in country cottages or Victorian houses. Despite its minimalist look, the solid metal construction can give it an antique look, without the twee apperance of your typical wrought iron stair.

Our favourite stair is a bright mauve one going up to a bedroom of the all white interior of a well known photographers 200 year old cottage. Old looking but timeless,the mauve against the background white provides a wonderful contrast. We have to admit this was all down to the customer who knew far more about colour than we did, and was bold enough to go with his own ideas.

When we first visited New living stair works in the beautiful countryside near Livorno in Northern Italy, we knew straight away that we would have a lasting relationship with them.

The whole place has a feel of traditional craftsmanship about it. It was obvious from the works in progress that these people cared about the stairs that they made, and what they made, they made well. We are glad to report that we have not been disappointed, the stairs that we have received since, have never failed to impress.

In actual fact the reason we visited them in the first place was because we fell in love with a bright green wafer thin minimalist spiral stair in a showroom of an Austrian loft ladder manufacturer. We never did buy the loft ladders, but we learnt that the stair was called a stencil and was manufactured in Italy. The rest is history.

As all stairs are factory assembled before being dismantled for shipping, it gives us confidence that we know they will work on site.

We also believe that these stylish minmalist stairs represent excellent value for money when compared to similar manufactured nearer home.
